A fascinating evening’s talk from local farmer and campaigner, Robert Crocker. Known for his campaigns for farmland hedges (as written up here in the Oxford Mail in 2016), Robert speaks from experience as a landowner, trustee of The Wychwood Forest Trust and farmer of the challenges of balancing nature and food (and finances).
Interested villagers filled the Parish Hall to listen to Robert’s humble but powerful messages on valuing nature. Questions covered his hedgerow campaign, training for farmers, flocks of farmland birds and many more topics.
Robert finished by discussing how he and a working group in his parish of Freeland have put together a Village Design Statement, recently accepted by WODC, to help preserve the character, nature and historical value of Freeland for the future.
An inspiring evening all round!
