This summer, Fifielders have been busy raising funds for new playground equipment for the Recreation Ground.

At the end of June, a pop-up BBQ breakfast was enjoyed by many village residents and proved to be a greatly successful new way of fundraising. Several people suggested making it a regular event – though we may not quite rival Rise and Flour, Bruern Farmshop, or the Cotswold Lounge (especially with the unpredictable British weather!).

In July, the Recreation Ground played host to a lively Picnic Party, with a great turnout of bears accompanied by their humans for the Teddy Bears’ Picnic. The sunshine was out in full force, and the Cocktail/Mocktail Tent kept everyone well hydrated – along with beer and cider generously donated by The King’s Head, Bledington. Children had plenty of fun with the lucky dip and cake decorating, whilst adults enjoyed a fabulous tombola filled with homemade treats, artisan gifts, and an abundant array of bottles.

September saw the much-anticipated Fifield Family Fun Run with medals sponsored by the Cotswold Training Club. Luckily, the rain held off, the paths were not too muddy (despite the week of downpours beforehand), and more than 120 people of all ages turned out to walk, run and support – all of whom got medals sponsored by the Cotswold Training Club. The event was rounded off with a well-earned breakfast BBQ supported by the Co-op. Special thanks also go to Bruern Farms and the Lloyds for allowing the route to pass over their land.
